about

Let's Dance is part of my David Byrdie project - basically what might it sound like if the Byrds covered David Bowie and others.
David Byrdie backstory - David Byrdie has remained one of the oddest characters in rock music. His early 1960s music was highly influential and, despite the fact that he never recorded any of it – he felt strongly that his music should only be experienced in a live setting – bootlegged recordings spread the word to those who never had the opportunity to see him perform. Countless artists who later achieved fame and fortune, some of whom outright copied the “Byrdie Sound”, site his influence.
David Byrdie left the music business in the early 70s, his principled stand against recording working against him. He dropped out of sight. For some he was a legend, for most he was a footnote to be forgotten.
Twenty years later an aspiring young music manager called Terry Phillip heard one of those old bootlegged recordings. He had known about David Byrdie but upon hearing the music for the first time he became seized with the idea of finding Byrdie and restoring him to what Phillip believed was his rightful place in the world of music. It took him almost a year to find Byrdie, and another year to earn his trust and convince him to return to the spotlight. What followed is music history
